My Touch 3G handset launched by T-Mobile

T-Mobile has finally launched the highly-anticipated myTouch 3G phone operating on the Google Android platform. Designed by HTC, this handset is compact as well as lightweight and allows users to choose desired accessories and designs from a wide array.
Mobile enthusiasts can now design and add various styles to their devices. It includes photos, graphic design, text, shapes, icons, logos and more. These selected designs and styles will be custom-printed onto the shell when the phone is finally delivered. Gel skins, device cases, wrist straps, covers and more are the accessories offered exclusively for this mobile phone.
Users can experiment with a variety of themes and accessories to give a personal touch to their handsets. This month, the company will offer five distinct accessory bundles online enabling users to customize their mobile phone. It will include a music pack, portable speakers, a bonus promotional card for Amazon MP3 downloads. Additionally it integrates a fitness pack which comprises of a fitness belt and arm band.
With new widgets, icons and wallpapers users can personalize the entire theme of the handset and can also add them directly on the home screen. The Android Market offers a huge collection of applications which will allow users to further customize their devices based on their passions and preferences. In addition to the myTouch 3G handset, the company also revealed a new application called AppPack. This application will help users customize their handsets furthermore along with managing their T-Mobile accounts. Other free applications included with this application are Sherpa, imeem Mobile, World Tour, Phonebook and FreshFace and Movies by Flixter.

We’ll help this come to life from the get-go at our retail stores, where unique sample personas will be displayed to illustrate some of the many customization options. Also, our skilled myTouch 3G Retail Champions will learn about our customers’ interests and needs to make sure they’re suited to make their myTouch unlike any other.”

Created by Geodelic, Sherpa integrates a learning machine which customizes itself based on the user’s preferences automatically. Depending on behavior, user feedback, prioritizing of recommended retailers, restaurants and attractions the application finds out about the likes in addition to dislikes of the user. The imeem Mobile streams music based on taste and also recommends new songs and artists. On the other hand, live webcams from all over the world are placed onto the homescreen of the device by the World Tour application. An upgraded and more personalized phonebook for Android is upgraded through the Phonebook application.
myTouch can be further customized using the theme engine called FreshFace. Movies by Flixster is perfectly apt for movie lovers as it allow users to see a movie or share reviews with friends. Other additional applications are T-Mobile My Account, Visual Voicemail and Mobile backup. This device allows one-touch access to Google mobile services such as Google Search by voice, Google Maps with Street View, YouTube and Picasa.
myTouch will be completely supported by T-Mobile’s 3G network and will be available in 176 cities nationwide. It will be dressed in three colors namely black, white and merlot for a price of $199.99 with a two-year agreement.
